Riku (Rikhard) ja Irene viettivät häitän elokuussa 1919. Irene toi perheeseen esikoistyttärensä, Kaisun (Karin). Yhdessä heillä oli 6 lasta, ensin neljä tyttöa ja sitten kaksi poikaa.
